I've spent a fortune on professional software over the years. Now, it seems pros are left high and dry as they focus on their wildly profitable "twiddling lifestyle gadgetry" line of products. The graphic design types and other creative professionals helped keep them afloat until they got their first big modern hit with the imac. I've been buying and using macs since 1995 (my industry uses them somewhat exclusively). I've been sent to support, itunes store support, online store support and back to just plain "support". I was specifically told that I cannot transfer the license. Yes, it was bought pre-installed when I bought the machine. I've checked my app store and itunes history and it is not there. Perhaps they've changed this policy now, but if buying a computer with software online with Apple, you'd better double check that it is a "big boy" license and not a "go take a flying expletive deleted at a rolling doughnut" license. $199 isn't going to break me, but I'm not paying as I'm far more pointlessly and righteously stubborn than that. I've been told that I must purchase the software outright.
Buy logic pro online upgrade#
Sometimes, a new version comes out and an upgrade must be purchased. I was told that the license is entirely non-transferable between computers (even if the computer has gone kaput?). It seems at this point (5 emails, 2 chats with customer service) Apple is not honoring my Logic Pro X purchase of 2014 whatsoever. I have to get a new one (for work – I'm self-employed). I bought the optional Logic Pro X installed at the same time ($199).įast forward 4 years and the Macbook dies.
